Sad Poem
Its such a feeling when they drive away
You were just with them and now they’re just red taillights and memories
What was inches is now yards and now blocks and now gone
Every minute off all the years try to flood back
But no brain can handle that
It’s just too much candy
A kid’ll get sick from too many Halloweens
You asked her if she wanted to see your purple velvet suit
Sure!
She loved it but, you know, it’s too heavy for summer.
It’s a winter suit
The last thing she told you after “I love you”
Was please stop drinking
You said you would
But you didn’t
You just just keep going
You just keep being you
You just keep watching taillights fade into the dark.
